Domain Walks (dog friendly)

Domain Walks (dog friendly)

Ashburton Domain Walnut Ave entrance - opposite Rosebank

Fri, May 08, 4:00 PM

Most Fridays (but not the third Friday of the month) you can enjoy the Ashburton Domain with other timebankers and friends - some of whom bring their dogs. We meet at 4pm and usually wander for about 45 minutes. With dogs there is usually a fair amount of stopping and sniffing so it's certainly not a fast paced walk. Anyone is welcome to join us. We enjoy the Domain through all the seasons and catch up on each others news. It's a relaxed thing - just turn up, no registration. Four legged friends are of course also welcome.

Mid Winter Christmas

Mid Winter Christmas

Sat, Aug 01, 6:00 PM

Are you new to town and want to meet others? Perhaps you miss having Christmas during winter? Or maybe you just want something fun to look forward to during the dark, cold winter months?? All are welcome to join us for this year’s Community Mid-Winter Christmas Party. We start with a potluck dinner at 6pm - so please bring your favourite Christmas or winter dish to share and/or something for dessert. If you have an ugly Christmas sweater or sparkly Christmas earrings - here's your chance to wear them. :-) There will be time to chat with others as well as enjoy a couple of fun Christmas themed activities during the night. As has become our tradition, we will play a Danish Present Game during the evening - so please bring 1 or 2 wrapped gifts per person. Something that is pre-loved, re-gifted, homemade or found in an op shop for less than $5 is what we’re after. It is important it is wrapped and that you don't tell other people what it is - feel free to disguise it (e.g. by putting something small into a large box). We are all about zero waste so wrapping in newspaper is ideal! Come along for a fun and social evening in the middle of winter! All are welcome to this free event - but spaces are limited. Registrations are essential - also so we can set up the venue for the right number. Do you have new neighbours or colleagues that might like meeting some new people? Why not invite them along! Organised by Mid Canterbury TimeBank & Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network.
